Got Consent? is a 60 minute program that addresses the most common misconceptions regarding sexual assaults/rapes. The discussion is focused on debunking common myths while clearly explaining the issue of consent, including the "Four Universal Truths of Consent." Participants learn the legal definition of rape in Kentucky and its correlation between drug and alcohol consumption. Finally, participants are given resources on what to do if they or someone they know were to be sexually assaulted, including access to 24-hour services such as our Crisis Line at 1-800-656-HOPE. Risk Reduction Rape affects all ages, races, socioeconomic levels, and gender. A study conducted by the National Center for Victims of Crime in 2004 found that one rape/sexual assault occurs every two minutes in the United States. Actively reduce your risk of becoming a victim by practicing basic safety. In this 60 minute program participants learn important risk-reduction techniques that they can employ at home, in public, or while in a vehicle. Techniques include learning to establish sexual limits and to communicate those limits. Recognizing the Signs: Child Sexual Abuse This is a great program for parents, child-care workers, and educators who are constently exposed to children of all ages. This program is best implemented in a 2 hour to 3 hour segment, perfect for Teacher Professional Developments, but it can be adjusted to fit the time constraints of the requesting group or organization. All participants will receive a "Guide to Understanding Sexual Trauma," plus numerous other resources. Community Outreach Every year Hope Harbor provides thousands of informational materials through numerous community-wide awareness efforts. We setup informational booths at countless bak-to-school bashes, health and safety fairs at schooles, companies, and/or other community events such as The Medical Center's Health and Wellness Expo, One Day for Women, WKU Health Days, Stand for Children Day, etc. Contact us now for your next awareness event!
